Located in Buxted, on the Wealdway in East Sussex, Oast Farm is a family-run Fruit Farm, Shop and Cafe

The Farm Shop and Cafe offer our own fruit and fresh, good quality local produce.

We pride ourselves in sourcing only the best from local providers; other farm shops, butchers, bakers, cheesemakers, dairy, smokery, fishmonger, to name but a few.

We sell a wide range of produce in our farm shop. As well as our own fruit, jams, jellies, chutneys and our apple and pear juice, we sell fresh seasonable vegetables, local eggs and honey (from hives on the farm) cheese, dairy, meat and game. We sell bread from Flint Owl, the celebrated artisan bakery in Glynde, plus popular cakes baked in nearby Framfield, and much more.

The Cafe has a menu to suit all tastes and we cater for all dietary requirements including vegan, gluten and dairy free options. All our food is cooked to order using the produce we sell in the shop, including our own fruit.

We hope to see you soon.

wassail 2024

What is a wassail?

The purpose of wassailing is to awake the apple trees and to scare away evil spirits, to ensure a good harvest of fruit in the autumn.

A singing procession moves to the orchard where the “Wassail Royalty” are lifted up into the boughs of the oldest tree in the orchard. The assembled throng then place toast soaked in Wassail (Cider made from last year’s apples) as a gift to the tree spirits. There is then an address or incantation. This incantation is followed by noise-making from the crowd until the gunsmen give a final volley through the branches to scare away the evil spirits and ensure a good crop of apples this year.

It is a silly, strange and fantastic day, here’s looking forward to a better harvest this year!

We mustered in the car park ready to start at 2.00pm on Sunday 21st January.

Don’t forget your warm clothes, wellies (It’s very wet up in the orchard) and, most importantly, something with which to make a noise!!

Went for my birthday lunch with my mum on 19/06. I had the sausage sandwich and mum had a fruit scone with cream and jam. They were delicious, proper sausages. And the young waitress was so friendly and a real breath of fresh air. Would love to come back and try the rest of their menu

Excellent cafe

Oast Farm, set in rolling Sussex countryside, is accessible and has a lovely, welcoming team.
It is rare in offering coffee in actual cafetières so you can pour your own as you want, just great. And the menu of cooked-to-order meals and freshly baked pastries is a sensory delight!
Relaxed, friendly and very good value this cafe is highly recommended.
